Sometimes a quick stroll is all you need for that afternoon “reset” in our nature reserve. Whether the legs are too young or the knees too old, the Koloniesbos trail offers you a gentle, circular meander through a cosy indigenous forest nestled up against the slopes of 12 ‘o clock peak.

A sweeping vista of the Langeberg mountain towers above you on the first leg of this walk, leading up to the forest as you make your way on a gentle uphill towards the sound of a refreshing trickle of water amongst giant ferns in a tranquil, green gulley. Step across some boulders at the Koornlands river crossing and it’s all downhill again. This outing can be combined with the Duiwelsbos hike in the kloof next door for a more taxing workout.
