A rare karoo rainshower is hitting the large glass windowpanes at Ryno’s micro-brewery in Barrydale. We’re onto our third game of domino’s when the sandwiches arrive; a hearty pulled pork on homemade rye. Paired perfectly with the saison style beer looking regal in its snifter glass. I start snapping photos as our afternoon begins to feel like a holiday.

You know you’re in good hands when everything just fits. The contemporary, relaxed styling of the room and crockery, the confident, understated menu, superb selection of craft beer on tap, and, of course, a locally roasted coffee served up with a smile by Ryno himself. If you’re looking to get away from the crowds, strike up a conversation over a glass of beer, or to simply settle into a mellow, cultivated karoo afternoon, give Ryno’s brewery on the main road a visit.
