This one literally has it all: deep, lush kloofs and waterfalls, swimming pools with views across Swellendam, a flat (plaat) top that can be taken at a trail running pace or used as a picnic break, and your choice of difficulty, steep or gentle, as this is a circular trail with three points of entry or exit, meaning, best of all, no need to backtrack!

The Plaat trail is perfect for young or old. Expect pristine fynbos and fauna managed by Cape Nature in Marloth Nature Reserve, lots of drinking water across two kloofs and good phone reception along all points. The trail is 9km in length and can be completed in around 4 hours, but we suggest making a day of it with some swimming after a lunch at the top.
